COERR Mae Sa Rieng Organized the Larvae Control and Bean Sprout Making

Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne tropical disease caused by the dengue virus, which is spread to people through the bite of the infected Aedes Mosquito.

It usually spread during the rainy season and affect children under 15 years of age.

It is necessary for children and youth to be aware of the danger of the disease and launch a preventive measure.

COERR Mae Sa Rieng then took the advantage of Saturday Activities program to raise children and youth’s awareness of the precautions for dengue and communicate with the community about the control of mosquito larvae developing in stagnant water and in containers such as uncovered water jar and buckets, etc.

On July 10, 2021, there were 133 children and youth of 86 females and 47 males joining the activity to survey the water source which was the breeding ground for Aedes mosquitos. As being introduced by COERR staff, youth and children, wearing face masks and gloves distributed by COERR, conducted the community survey and once saw the uncovered water containers, poured little amount of abate sand into the containers to prevent larvae from growing into mosquitoes. The remaining amount of abate sand provided by COERR was given to the requested household for further use.
